Westhaven Marina Upgrade

Project Overview

Fittingly dubbed the 'City of Sails', Westhaven Marina is one of Auckland's most well-known locations. The largest yacht marina in the Southern Hemisphere, the marina's central location makes it a notable example of urban boating. As part of the marina's impressive upgrade, a 400m boardwalk along the water’s edge, with major carpark upgrades and sea wall enhancement were included.

This juxtaposition of coast with urban surrounds makes the marina a truly unique and challenging environment. Due to the harsh conditions, careful consideration was given to soils and plants selected. The sea wall was softened by retained Pohutukawa trees stabilised in TP120 to support native coastal root establishment, our bio-retention media was used to mitigate large impermeable surfaces created by carpark upgrades close to the waters edge, raingardens were installed. Using our RG240, these raingardens allow filtration of contaminants and reduced speed of stormwater run-off from nearby roads and paved areas.

Great product availability and communication from the team - Supply was hassle-free, consistent and met project specifications.
